Specializing in Scoliosis & Chronic Pain
Living with scoliosis myself, I understand your challenges and have pursued specialized education to provide you with the best care.
Hi, I’m Colleen Collins.
I empower individuals living with scoliosis and chronic pain by offering specialized, scoliosis-informed mental health care. My approach focuses on managing pain, addressing body image concerns, and alleviating anxiety and depression to help people live happier, healthier lives.
I strive to bridge the gap between mental health and scoliosis care, fostering a supportive community and enhancing your overall quality of life.
“Bent but not broken”
Life doesn’t always go as planned. We wake up to the same struggles—anxious thoughts, chronic pain, and unhelpful patterns—wanting change but unsure how to move forward. For those struggling with scoliosis or spinal deformities, it can feel like your mind and body are holding you back.
Whatever it is, we have your back.
Does this sound like you?
It’s frustrating having limited mobility. I want to be independent.
I’m anxious about how my back looks so I often hide it.
I feel so much pressure and it’s hurting my performance.
I feel like I’m drowning in responsibilities with no purpose.
No matter what I do, it feels like it’s never enough.
I sabotage myself and my goals even when I know better.
No one seems to appreciate what I do; I feel invisible.
I wish making friends came easier to me.

About Colleen
"Don't sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them." — Madam C.J. Walker
My journey with scoliosis began at 11, but I didn’t let it stop me from competing in figure skating, even making it to the Canadian Nationals in Pairs. Summers were spent in Pennsylvania for intensive scoliosis-specific physiotherapy, and high school brought the challenge of wearing a scolismart suit. Despite these struggles, my passion for sports led me to pursue education in sport psychology, earning a BSc (Hons) in Sports Studies, a Master’s in Sport and Exercise Psychology, and eventually a Master’s in Counselling Psychology to become a Registered Psychotherapist.
STC Therapy was originally created to support athletes dealing with anxiety and the pressures of sports. However, as I delved deeper into the mental health challenges associated with scoliosis, I realized the significant gap in support for those living with this condition. This led me to shift STC Therapy’s focus toward helping individuals navigate the emotional and psychological challenges of scoliosis.
Now, my mission is to bridge the gap between scoliosis and mental health care, providing specialized support so that everyone with scoliosis can live a happy, healthy, and functional life.
STC Therapy is here to create positive and meaningful change in your life, supporting you every step of the way.

What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy requires clients to provide at least 48 hours notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will be subject to a cancellation fee, typically equivalent to the full session rate. This policy helps ensure that time slots can be offered to other clients in need.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial for anyone experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, or those looking to improve their overall well-being. If you find yourself struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or the stress of managing a condition like scoliosis, therapy can provide you with the support and strategies you need to cope effectively. An initial consultation can help determine if therapy is the right fit for you.
How often should I attend therapy?
The convenience and accessibility of virtual therapy is certainly a benefit of therapy. The frequency of therapy sessions varies based on individual needs and goals. Typically, clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and then may adjust to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as they progress. STC Therapy values flexibility and this includes flexibility in scheduling and frequency of sessions.
Do you accept insurance?
STC Therapy does not bill insurance companies directly; however, we can provide you with detailed receipts for services rendered, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurance company beforehand to understand your coverage for psychotherapy services.
What are your fees?
Fees will vary depending on the type of services. Please reach out for more information.
How many sessions does it take to start seeing results?
The number of sessions needed to see results varies. Some clients notice improvements within a few sessions, while others require longer-term therapy. Consistent attendance and active participation in therapy can expedite positive changes.
